FIDJU KITXORA performs at Eurosonic Festival in Groningen, Netherlands A project highlighted as one of the artists that Europe’s biggest showcase festival thinks are about to break through

After a series of widely praised shows in Portugal and beyond, Fidju Kitxora continue their international journey, using music as a space for connection and collective expression. Their performance will take place next Friday, January 16, at 11:30 PM, at the Grand Theatre

Fidju Kitxora will perform next Friday at Eurosonic Festival, in Groningen, Netherlands, sharing with audiences the power of their Cape Verdean diaspora rave performance. The show promises a sonic journey that weaves funaná, semba, kuduro, and afro-house with contemporary electronics and field recordings — a fusion that both evokes memories of the diaspora and envisions new forms of communion, building bridges where others insist on raising walls.

Created between Cape Verde and Lisbon, Fidju Kitxora released their debut album, Racodja, in 2024 — an ode to the voices of the diaspora, past, present, and future. The album served as the starting point for an international tour that has already taken the project to some of the main stages: Festival Músicas do Mundo (Sines), Tallinn Music WeekFestival Sinsal (Vigo), Mercat de Música Viva (Vic), BAM Festival (Barcelona), as well as Tremor, Nascentes, Zigurfest, Serralves em Festa, and Festival F.

“It’d be surprising if Fidju Kitxora were already on your radar. But it feels likely that they might well soon be. The anonymous, mystery-laden collective floats between Lisbon and Cape Verde, blending sounds and textures from the diaspora with a thrilling and musically intellectual circumference. An incredible live experienceThe magazine previously added:

“As the performance comes to an end, the man disappears off into the ether, and the band follow suit, walking off the stage and through a backdoor before the reverb of the synth has swirled to a halt. Onlookers look around, confused, mesmerised, exhilarated. What has just happened? Who knows—but it was fucking majestic.” –– in Wonderland. Magazine “The artists that Europe’s biggest showcase festival thinks are about to break through”

Fidju Kitxora stands out as an artistic proposal that transforms diversity into a space for gathering and imagining possible futures. On stage, the invitation is clear: listen with both body and heart.
