The band is back in 2023 for some exclusive concerts.
Luís Varatojo, Nuno Rafael, João Cardoso and Sérgio Nascimento come together for a series of exclusive concerts in 2023. In 1994, Despe e Siga entered the studio to record their first album. The album brought together a repertoire of versions of songs by the Beach Boys, Pogues and Madness, among others, with lyrics in Portuguese, which the band had been playing since 91 in bars and clubs all over the country. It is worth noting the first performances at Até que Enfim, in Santos, the seasons at BBB, Caparica and the six-month residency at Marquês da Sé. The record was very well received and, with the Festa breaking out in academic weeks and nightclubs across the country and Bué de Baldas being sung in chorus in front of the Assembly of the Republic, silver quickly arrived. In 1995, Despe e Siga were nominated for “Band of the Year” at the Blitz newspaper Awards and a year later they recorded their second album. In this second work, entitled Os Primos, the group aims to create the first original songs – one of them (Tou Bom) with lyrics by Sérgio Godinho – and embodies a gang in a suit and tie that plays Ska and stars in a film, made in the summer of 96 by Pedro Cláudio. Os Primos also contains, among other songs, Família Virtual, the band's first original, and Sempre em Pé, a version of Monkey Man by the Jamaicans Toots and the Maytals. In 1998 the band recorded the last album, 99.9, with only original songs, in a pop/rock/ska mix refined by Mário Barreiros' production, where the singles Lunamóvel, Rádio Ska and Manual do Gelo stood out. More than two decades later, the band returns to the stage for a small series of exclusive concerts by one of the most popular musical projects in national pop-rock.
