| T贸 Trips embarks on a new chapter in his journey with the release of聽Dissidente, the latest album from his solo project and the first recorded as a quartet. Alongside Alexandre Fraz茫o on drums, Ant贸nio Quintino on double bass, and Helena Espvall on cello, T贸 Trips introduces the聽Fake Latinos. Featuring 16 original tracks, this new album was produced by T贸 Trips himself, in collaboration with Hugo Valverde and Ant贸nio Quintino, and recorded between November and December 2024 at Namouche studios. For T贸 Trips, this new work represents聽“A handful of songs, places, and life stories鈥攕ometimes darker, sometimes brighter, more rhythmic, or more jazzy鈥攁lways with one foot in Lisbon and the other beyond. Where my guitar playing of the past meets the present! My music has always been a powerful means of dissent for me, capable of transforming personal feelings into forms of fulfillment and protest. Being myself in the world with my music and my guitar!” With a discreet yet substantial presence in the Portuguese music scene, T贸 Trips has spent nearly four decades mastering the guitar鈥攁 rare case of enduring resilience and continuous inventiveness. His guitar carries stories, memories, and experiences, with an imagery as vast as it is unique. His solo debut in 2009,聽Guitarra 66, marked his first openly autobiographical work, followed by聽Guitarra Macaca聽(2015) and聽Popular Jaguar聽(2023), the predecessors to聽Dissidente. The live presentation of聽Dissidente聽will premiere in Amarante on March 29 at Cine-Teatro de Amarante, continuing to Lisbon on March 31 at Teatro Maria Matos, and to Porto on May 28 at Casa da M煤sica, with more dates to be announced soon. “Fiesta Triste”聽is the lead single introducing the new album, accompanied by a music video directed by Frederico Rompante, recorded live at the Centro Cultural das Caldas da Rainha. |
