Mike El Nite has been constantly reinventing himself. He stands out as one of the most versatile and unique artists in Portuguese music, firmly established in the culture through his work as a rapper, songwriter, and producer over the years.

We know him as Mike El Nite but, since he considers us his friends, we can call him ‘Simplesmente Miguel’ (Simply Miguel). This alter ego marks the beginning of a new phase in his career—one that will celebrate its ten-year anniversary in 2026—where the closeness with his audience becomes absolute. This isn’t just a new chapter. It’s a set date: Miguel invites us on a date with life, with music, and with himself — a romantic, existential, and deeply human encounter.

Musically, Simply Miguel revisits and reinvents worlds: from the revivalism of Lisbon’s 80s and 90s live-music bars, to the golden aesthetics of romantic ballads, passing through a ‘Portuguese-style’ italo-disco, Neapolitan neomelodic music, all the way to Japanese city pop and jazz-fusion.

‘It’s as if Ricardo Landum lived in Tokyo, and there was a Lisboatown nightlife out there,’ Miguel tells us.

The first single, ‘Existencisensual (It’s Complicated)’ — which will also give its name to the album — is born from a simple yet intense idea: ‘by thinking about life, he falls in love with it.’ It is in this meeting between existential reflection and sensory romanticism that Miguel finds his new voice, merging philosophy and sensuality into songs that breathe intimacy.
