Joana Espadinha

Following the success of songs like “Leva-me a Dançar,” “Mau Feitio,” and “Ginger Ale” – and with songwriting credits for Carminho, Mariza Liz, and Sara Correia – Joana Espadinha has been touring the country with her fourth album, Vergonha na Cara (2024).

On stage, she delivers sophisticated pop, full of indie nuances and introspective moments, promising experiences of emotion, rhythm, and abundant energy.

Music entered Joana Espadinha’s life very early. She studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory and the Luís Villas-Boas Jazz School at Hot Club Portugal, all while completing a degree in Law. From student to teacher, she went on to teach singing in the Jazz program at the University of Évora as well as at the Hot Club school. She built her solo career, where pop sounds gradually took precedence over jazz. Her debut album, Avesso, was released in 2014, followed by her second album, O Material Tem Sempre Razão, in 2018.
